That brings us back to the energy saving of the Tadpole. Have you worked out what it costs you to heat your house? Let us say that you use gas. It is costing you your gas bill, less a bit for the cooking if you cook with gas, but if you do not, then your gas bill is your heating bill. If we said that 10% of your gas bill was for cooking it will be about right. So add your bills up and you have last years cost of gas, take off 10% and what do you get?
This is where it can get a bit tricky for me, as there are such huge variations in heating costs and they range from about £500 a year all the way up to over £2000 a year. The average bill is about £1000 a year according to the latest statistics following the latest price rises. Which brings me on to the next point. How much will your energy bills go up over the next year, or 5 years? We have just had a 15% increase. Will the next one be 10% or 20%? So being conservative, lets us say that it is going to be 10% per annum increase. So over the next 5 years your heating costs will be as follows if your house cost about £1000 to heat last year, or if it didn't it soon will.
| Last year | £1000 |
| Next year | £1100 |
| 2 years | £1210 |
| 3 years | £1330 |
| 4 years | £1465 |
| 5 years | £1610 |
| Total | £7715 |
Total Cost £7715 over the next 5 years at a 10% average increase.
Now suppose you install a Tadpole now. Let us assume a 25% saving on your heating bills. There are official tests about to be released (Mid Feb 2008) that are showing a saving of 27% using a combination boiler so 25% is not unreasonable.
| Last year | £1000 | ||
| Next year | £825 | Saving | £275 |
| 2 years | £910 | Saving | £300 |
| 3 years | £1000 | Saving | £330 |
| 4 years | £1100 | Saving | £365 |
| 5 years | £1210 | Saving | £400 |
| Total | £6045 | Saving | £1670 |
Less cost of Installation @£347.
If your current bills are £2000 a year then obviously the savings will be doubled to £2645, and if you are one of the lucky ones and only paying £500 now, your savings will be halved to £662. And what if the actual energy increases are higher than the 10% bearing in mind how much they have just gone up?
Which would you rather do? Pay for your energy costs no matter what they are, or buy a Tadpole now, with money you will be spending anyway, and save up to 25% for year after year after that?
And remember you will be so pleased you will tell all your friends, and if you do that and tell us first, we will pay you £20 for every successful installation.
An even bigger "saving". And think how pleased your friends will be with you.
